Now is a good time for students to take advantage of various free SAT resources.<\/p>\n<p>The school division offers free access to College Board SAT Online, which provides sample test questions and study tips. Students may log in from any computer or device with Internet access by using a password\/code obtained from their school\u2019s guidance department.<\/p>\n<p>Students may also contact their guidance counselors for more information about the free SAT preparatory course offered in high schools.\u00a0The one-half credit semester course is subject to availability based on a sufficient number of students enrolling in the course.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the College Board posts a <a href=\"http:\/\/sat.collegeboard.org\/practice\/sat-question-of-the-day?questionId=20150212&amp;tq=1\">Question of the Day<\/a> on its website as well as makes previous questions available for more practice.<\/p>\n<p>Here are two sample questions from the past 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>From Feb. 4 &#8211;<em> Choose the word or set of words that, when inserted in the sentence, <strong>best<\/strong> fits the meaning of the sentence as a whole. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Troy was &#8212;&#8212;- when he wasn\u2019t elected class president: his spirits were so low that there was nothing we could say or do to cheer him up.<\/p>\n<p>(A) unctuous<br \/>\n(B) disconsolate<br \/>\n(C) ebullient<br \/>\n(D) inscrutable<br \/>\n(E) tenacious<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you prefer to practice your math skills, the Jan. 25 question posed the following probability question:<\/p>\n<p>A jar contains only red marbles and green marbles. If a marble is selected at random from the jar, the probability that a red marble will be selected is 2\/3. If there are 36 green marbles in the jar, how many red marbles are there in the jar?<\/p>\n<p>(A) 18<br \/>\n(B) 24<br \/>\n(C) 54<br \/>\n(D) 72<br \/>\n(E) 108<\/p>\n<p>If you selected answer choice B to describe Troy as \u201cdisconsolate\u201d and chose answer D to identify 72 red marbles in the jar, you were correct!<\/p>\n<p>The SAT is offered at least seven times each year in the U.S. The remaining test dates this year are March 14, May 2 and June 6.
