Recently the Kempsville Elementary School (KES) SCA, staff members and volunteers carried out an \u201cextreme makeover\u201d of their school\u2019s courtyard garden. In addition to pulling weeds, trimming bushes, and transplanting several strawberry plants, the students also planted several winter plants including lettuce and cabbage. The students are now looking forward to a delicious salad snack once the crop is ready to harvest. In the spring the students will be planting another round of fruits and vegetables.<\/p>\n

Joy Drumm, Amy Mackiewicz, Beth Bailey and her family, Maxine Mazur, Patricia Brandt and Mary Parsons joined together to clean up the garden that was installed last year, and readied it for winter plants.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
