A big change is taking place at Indian Lakes Elementary this year. Cara\u00a0Dibbs, the school’s Library Media Specialist, has turned the\u00a0school announcements into an on-air news cast. The news team comprised of fourth-\u00a0and fifth-graders runs a daily morning news show that is broadcast to the entire school.<\/p>\n

Maria Torres, Evan White, Tanaya Pipkin and Remy Moore are a part of the new Indian Lakes news team.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The reporters are thrilled to be a part of this new production. The students and staff echo their excitement. \u201cThe kids pay attention more to our announcements now because they want to see what is going to happen next,\u201d said\u00a0Tammy\u00a0Quent, a fifth grade teacher.<\/p>\n

Student Jayden Taylor was pleased to see the words to the Star Spangle Banner on the TV stating that \u201cIt\u2019s helpful for the littler kids because they might not know the words.\u201d<\/p>\n

But perhaps Kevin Ellison summed it up the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love them. I really do!\u201d<\/p>\n
