In order to facilitate research, students were provided a research pathfinder to find information and a bibliography template to cite sources used in the research.<\/p>\n<p>Working in groups, students made use of eLibrary, Biography in Context, Jewish Virtual Library and United States Holocaust Museum to learn more about the people who lived through the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1584\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1584\" style=\"width: 584px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vbcpsblogs.com\/core\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Holocaust-iBook-Project-b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1584\" alt=\"Jaquan Belin,. Christal Swearingen, Lisa Dittbrenner, Kiamber Barrows and Elijah Jewett show their project off to Larkspur principal Matthew Delaney.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Using their research, students then created fictional characters,and incorporated them in a short historical fiction reflection piece. Students also added pictures and created a bibliography of resources that were used in the project.<\/p>\n<p>Once the writing assignments were completed, the students created iBooks. To launch the ibooks, teachers Lisa Castellano, Ken Smead, the school&#8217;s Computer Resource Specialist, and Sonia Pritchett held a virtual book fair where teachers and administrators could view all the projects at one time.<\/p>\n<p>For those interested, the iBooks will be available in the iBook store this spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An eighth-grade class at Larkspur Middle School was tasked with bringing stories of hope from one of the most grim chapters in the world&#8217;s history to a new audience.
