Cut down on time getting your child’s 2017-2018 free/reduced meal application approved by submitting it online.
Families who are eligible based on federal household income guidelines can submit applications online via SchoolCafé, the service which Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) uses to connect parents with their children’s cafeteria accounts.
“Submitting the application online cuts down on pony mail time, not only from parents returning it to the school, but then for the school to return it to our office,” said Keith Anderson, coordinator of Food Services. “The sooner that the application is received in our office, the sooner students can begin to enjoy free or reduced prices since the federal government requires that eligibility first be established.”
All information submitted online is secure and sent directly to the Food Services Office for approval. Once approved, a push notification is sent to the parent via SchoolCafé, which parents can access via computer or through smartphones or tablets since the website is mobile friendly.
Via SchoolCafé, parents can also prepay money to their children’s accounts, view menus with nutritional information, monitor food purchases, set up low-balance email reminders and schedule recurring payments.
