An Achievable Dream Middle and High School at Lynnhaven will celebrate its first graduating class this year. In April, An Achievable Dream (AAD) hosted a Commitment Day Ceremony. Seniors proudly shared their post-graduation plans and signed commitment pledges as they get ready to embark on this next chapter.
The event symbolized the students’ hard work, dedication and bright futures.
Seniors Mahkala Twine and Austin Davis shared how An Achievable Dream ensured they are ready for their next steps after graduation.
Here’s an excerpt from Mahkala’s remarks:
“Throughout my journey, An Achievable Dream has guided me in exploring different paths and discovering what I’m truly passionate about. Even when I was uncertain about my college plans, they walked with me every step of the way, offering encouragement and guidance. Their support has been constant —from elementary school all the way to graduation — and I know that connection doesn’t end here. …As I prepare to continue my journey at Virginia Commonwealth University, I carry with me the invaluable lessons An Achievable Dream has taught me. Skills like communication, organization, and time management – along with adaptability, relationship-building, and networking – have all shaped who I am.
Also sharing remarks at the event were VBCPS Superintendent Dr. Donald Robertson Jr., AAD President & CEO Dr. Lee Vreeland, Lynnhaven principal Dr. Dawn Kramer, academy coordinator Joi Boone and AAD Lynnhaven Director Nekeila Mangrum shared.
The students were also joined by their class sponsor, the Copeland and Klebanoff families; An Achievable Dream Virginia Beach board members; additional VBCPS leadership; as well as faculty and staff.
The remarkable senior class has been equipped with the tools and skills to excel in the next step in their journeys and throughout life, knowing that the VBCPS and AAD community will be with them every step of the way. VBCPS and An Achievable Dream’s faculty and staff are immensely proud of these students and all they will accomplish in the future.
