Students at Cooke Elementary School designed “eggstronauts” that were dropped from a ladder truck from Virginia Beach Fire Department Station 11.

“While some eggstronauts survived the fall, others did not — but the kids had a fantastic time!” said fifth grade teacher Logan Berns.

The event was held the same day as 2025 STEM Lab Day at the Naval Air Station Oceana Air Show, so the students and teacher had a full day of science, technical, engineering and mathematics activities.

The school gives special thanks to the firefighters at Station 11 for helping them have some fun while learning about some of the laws of physics.
